WWII Commemorative Stamp Sets

Recently, students processed what they have learned about World War II by creating “commemorative stamp sets” that illustrate the significance of the war. Specifically, they had to create three stamps that showed how three of the different groups of people that we studied were affected by the war, and one stamp that memorializes a specific battle or event.

Here is a sampling of what they did:

It was a very fun project. We learned about all the different areas during WW II. How the African Americans were not allowed to fight in combat and how women at war were taking over some of the mens job at home. The women worked as nurses in hospitals. If this project was to be done over again I would change the lenght of time and instead of stamps do flyers or something along those lines!

I feel that this project really helped us learn alot about this topic in a fun way. These stamps had lots of info on them including: How women had to take over mens jobs, Germany blaming problems on jews, and wartime consumers ads. Victory gardens were also a hot topic!! I could do another project like this again.

This was really a good way to review what we had learned. I like how we only had to pick 4 catagories since we didn't have alot of information in some sections. I know that drawing things out helps me remember information better, so i like these projects.

I think everyone made pretty ones.. Girls are more creative than boys. I did min at home so it doesn't look so great. But i liked this project a lot because we got to do it on our own and we got to color and be artistic.:)
